Bandhavgarh National Park
is a small national park but thick forest sits in a bowl encircled by cliffs
and wooded Vindhyan Mountains. The Park is spread over an area of 437 sq. km.
This is also known as White Tiger territory. These have been found in the old
state of Rewa for many years. I ts plains have a number of grass and reed covered
wetlands where Kingfishers dive and Egrets sit poised, hunch-backed, in the
shallows. The Bandhavgarh jungle becomes a living self-sustaining organism providing
its own climate, atmosphere, water and nutrition through its recycling systems.
It even has a sleep wake cycle. As more light fills the sky, Bandhavgarh begins
Keoladeo Ghana National
Keoladeo Ghana National Park is located in the state of Rajasthan, also known
as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is one of the best bird sanctuaries and famous as
an 'Ornithologist's Paradise' in the world. The only manmade wildlife sanctuary
in India, developed by an erstwhile Maharaja of Bharatpur.
Corbett National Park
a popular hunting ground of the British, this 201 square mile park was named
in honor of the late Jim Corbett. The legendary (Late Jim Corbett) contributed
in setting up this park spending most of his life. With the help of the World
Wildlife Fund, Project Tiger was launched in Corbett National Park in 1973 and
this park was one of the first such tiger reserves in the country.
Kanha National Park
The largest wildlife sanctuary in Asia, Kanha National Park was one of the first
Project Tiger reserves in India . Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh,
Kanha national park cum Tiger reserve extends over an area of over 1,940-sq-kms
of bamboo thickets, extensive grasslands and dense sal forests make up Kanha-
a series of plateaus which stretch across the eastern segment of the Satpura
ranges in Madhya Pradesh.
Panna National Park
Panna National Park is home to some of the best wildlife species in India and
is one of the better Tiger Reserves in the country. Panna National Park is situated
in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh at a distance of around 57 km
from Khajuraho. Due to its closeness to one of the best-known Indian tourist
attraction in India, Khajuraho, the park has the potential of becoming a major
tourist attraction. The region is also home to some of the best wildlife species
in India and is one of the better Tiger Reserves in the country.The Panna National
Park is located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and is a part of the Chattarpur
district. The park is well connected with the other parts of the region by a
good network of roads.
Ranthambore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in the country,
situated in India's northwestern state of Rajasthan, and acknowledged as one
of the last virgin jungles in central India. Ranthambore was decalred a wildlife
sanctuary in 1955 and listed reserves protected under Project Tiger in 1973
and became national park in 1980.
Great Himalayan National Park
largest protected area in Himachal Pradesh, Seraj Forest Division of Kullu District
has The Great Himalayan National Park is located some 60 km southwest of Kullu
town. Also known as Jawahar Lal Nehru National Park, the park was declared as
a national park in the year 1984 to save the endangered wildlife species of
this Himalayan Ecosystem.
Sultanpur National Park
Sultanpur, 46 kms to the south-west of Delhi, is a green haven with a lake and
wild birds. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is an ideal place to spend a day with wonderful
avian species. Sultanpur was declared a water-bird reserve in 1972 is the neighbouring
state of Delhi . The sanctuary is a bird watcher's paradise and is home to a
number of birds and animals. The sanchuary is covered with lush green grounds,
lawns, trees and masses of bougainvillea.
Rajaji National Park
National Park spreads across three districts of Uttaranchal- Haridwar, Dehradun
and Pauri Garhwal, is lying in a 820 sq km swathe across the Shivaliks, near
the feet of the Himalayas. In 1983, the three wildlife sanctuaries of Rajaji,
Motichur and Chilla merged into one sprawling park land of three districts of
Uttaranchal: Haridwar , Dehradun and Pauri Garwhal. The three different protected
areas named one Rajaji National Park.
Dudhwa National Park
Dudhwa National Park , one of the largest and thickest forests of India and
also one of the most precious reserves of Indian Wildlife. This tiger reserve
is located in the Terai bordering Nepal . The park covers 498.29 sq. km. and
has fine sal forests and extensive grasslands.
