Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National ParkRanthambore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in the country, situated in India's northwestern state of Rajasthan, and acknowledged as one of the last virgin jungles in central India. Ranthambore was decalred a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and listed reserves protected under Project Tiger in 1973 and became national park in 1980. It is surrounded by the Vindhya and Aravali hill ranges and lies near the outer fringes of the Thar Desert. Originally a hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur, Ranthambore was declared a game sanctuary in 1955. The entire area of 390 sq km is located 500 m above sea level and is a sprawling tract of desert and semi-desert vegetation. Presently the Kaila Devi Sanctuary, also famous for its tigers, and the Man Singh Sanctuary form a part of Ranthambore Reserve.

Ranthambore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in the country Park's abandoned fortress, lakes and above all its `friendly' tigers have made it one of the most filmed wildlife reserves in the world. The tigers can be easily spotted in Ranthambore national park Ranthambore National Parkeven during the day. Ranthambore Park is famous for its tigers and is one of the best places in the country to see these majestic predators in the wild. A good time to visit between November and May when the nature of the dry deciduous forests makes sightings common. Its deciduous forests were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India.

The varied topography of the national park is home to animals like the jackal, mongoose, sloth bear, leopard, and of course, the tiger. Ranthambore Surrounded by the Vindhya and Aravali hill ranges has much more to offer you in sightseeing and excursions and is located very near to the outer fringes of the Thar Desert; this place offers you the best of the desert land as well as plain area near the hills.
